Gorgeous clean rooms, out of this world view (we were on the second floor), fantastic gardens, lovely staff, and great breakfast. We booked through a tour company and didn’t know what to expect, and were blown away when we arrived. Such a lovely place, and it felt unexpectedly luxurious. It’s situated far enough from downtown to not feel too cramped and busy, and close enough that it’s only a short walk away. If I’m ever in the region again, I’ll for sure be staying here again.
Beautiful hotel and amazing staff , breakfast was great, rooms were very clean and throughout the hotel. We would definitely recommend this hotel and we will be back .
Rooms felt homely, has a olden feel to it but had a modern seemingly recently renovated bathrooms. Breakfast was fancy and clean, had no grease whatsoever. View from the window was great seeing over the lake and fields.
Loved my stay here over the August (2025) bank holiday! Didn’t catch the name of the man on reception Monday morning, but he gave us the scenic route to Cockermouth and was a hoot to talk to, regaling us with funny tales. Breakfast was fantastic with endless cups of tea! Room was spacious and clean. Two minutes walk to the centre of town (cut across the car park) and pleasant helpful staff what more could you ask for?
Family run bed and breakfast style hotel. Rooms reasonably comfortable, but with this summer's heatwave a fan or two in each room would go a long way toward increasing comfort in this weather. Breakfast was hot, quick and tasty. Mother and her two sons were extremely nice, welcoming, and helpful.
A truly authentic and charming English hotel! It has preserved its original character and atmosphere from years past, which makes staying here feel like stepping back in time in the best way.
